On 23 April 2015, a church at Masinga in Machakos County was shut down after a section of residents lamented that brethren were worshipping while naked.
The Masinga residents were left in deep shock after rumors went round that the church members removed their clothes during prayers time.
According to the then area deputy county commissioner, Muraya Mwangi people living near the church were concerned over the way brethren worship in the church.
It was also revealed that only women were permitted to attend the Healing Ministries Church Services.
The women were also not bound by specific duration to arrive at the church.
The Ekalakala chief and a number of residents were forced to raid the church before it was closed down.
The area's business community chairman, Duncan Mutua told journalists that women used to spend a lot of time at the church.
Mutua said women would stay at the church until midnight.
“We recently stormed the church and caught the pastor pouring water on a naked woman in the name of praying for her,” Mutua said.
The church's pastor, Joseph Wambua denied the claims.
