United ended months, and months, AND MONTHS of speculation about the future of Fernandes when they finally decided to pay up and give Sporting Lisbon the £57 million it would take to bring him to the Premier League, and since his arrival, he has looked nothing short of world class.
The Portuguese attacker is know for his goal-scoring abilities and creative flair, and has already netted three goals in his first six appearances to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer get back in the chase to try and finish back inside the top four, which means Champions League football next season.
The No 18 has been so impressive former Premier League ace Danny Murphy thinks league-leaders Liverpool should have taken a punt and attempt to sign him as he would be an improvement on the current midfield trio: “Manchester United have got an absolute superstar and I think everybody else has missed a trick,” Murphy told TALKSPORT. “There’s always a place for quality, isn’t there?
“I think there’s an argument that Manchester City have got more than enough attacking players.
“But Liverpool? Woo! Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but yeah, that would have been great. He’d have a chance of getting in Liverpool’s three, that’s for sure.”
“He is sensational,” Murphy ADDED “He’s got a great shot on him, he’s got a brilliant delivery at set plays, he’s athletic, he glides across the pitch, he’s quick, he’s got great awareness, he’s very brave.
“He goes hunting for the ball, he takes the ball into dangerous areas and he puts himself in positions on the pitch where he is very dangerous.
“Ultimately the one thing I really love about him, as I do with any midfielder, is his ability to open a team up with his passing.”
DID LIVERPOOL MISS OUT?
Look, Liverpool are dominating in the Premier League and are closing in on that title because they have one of the best attacks in the game, so why did Klopp need to spend serious money improving a side that has lost once in the League this year.
United needed him, AND THEY GOT HIM. So even though Liverpool probably did miss out on Fernandes, He is at the right club as he would have not got the game time he will at Old Trafford
